The annunciator panel, also called the fire display panel, indicates the fire situations on each floor of the building. It should be installed in every fire compartment. However, when a fire compartment contains multiple floors, it is suggestible to install an annunciator panel on each floor to only shows this floor’s situation.

 

The floor identification sign refers to the device that belongs to the fire emergency lighting and evacuation indication systems. As shown in the picture below, in an emergency situation, such as a fire, the floor identification sign will show the escaping people what floor they are on.

 

What are the main differences between the annunciator panel and the floor identification sign? 

1、According to the current usage of fire products, usually, the annunciator panel refers to the fire display panel in the fire alarm system. The fire alarm control panel will transmit the fire alarm signal to the annunciator panel in the fire compartment, and the annunciator panel will display the alarm detector number and related information, giving alarm sounds. And the floor identification sign refers to the emergency sign in the evacuation system, often used to identify the floors of the building.

 

2、The main difference between the annunciator panel and floor identification sign is they belong to different fire systems. The annunciator panel belongs to the fire alarm control system, and the floor identification sign belongs to the fire evacuation system. You can also tell the difference according to the product diagrams or design instructions.

 

3、If you are not sure about the two devices, you can communicate with the manufacturer involved in the project or the relevant person in charge.
